Fern Hill Primary School

Physical Education

The children's PE lessons take place in the Hall and the school's outdoor area, where they develop basic skills in dance, athletics and games. They are taught how to use their bodies in a controlled safe and enjoyable way through a wide range of activities. The school also holds an annual Sports Day to which parents and carers are invited. We aim to promote the importance of physical activity, co-operation with others and an appreciation of the importance of fair play. We will encourage all children to participate fully according to their individual ability and to develop a positive approach to a healthy active life style.

Sporting Aims & Provision

Our aim is to positively promote sporting activities throughout the whole school for all pupils. We provide training in basic sporting skills during regular Physical Education lessons in order to comply with National Curriculum requirements. Equipment is made available for children to practice these skills during play time sessions. After school clubs provide opportunities for further development and participation in inter-borough matches in Football and Netball and National Award programmes.
