Reminders
Home Learning
This half-term's Home Learning Grids for children in Years 1 to 6 are published on the Google Classroom. All work should be completed in time for the children's Home Learning Showcase on Friday 9th February.
Year group weekly news
Don't forget to read your year group weekly news, published every Friday afternoon in your child's Home Learning Google Classroom.
Online Safety Workshop
On Wednesday 7th February, we will be running an e-safety workshop for parents and carers with children in Years 1 - 6. The workshop will run from 9:00 to 10:00 am and will begin with a briefing in the Large Hall, delivered by our IT services provider, Eduthing. Parents will then be invited to join their children in the classroom to complete a follow-up task together. Further information and a link to register your attendance will be sent out on Monday.
Spark! School Book Awards
The shortlists for the Spark! School Book Awards have been announced and our very own Phoebe and Karv from Bracken Class did a fantastic job helping with the picture book announcement videos!

We will be joining 180 schools around the country, reading and discussing these books in preparation to vote for our favourites in June. There will be lots of ways to get involved over the next few months - watch out for more information.
Eco Schools Committee Update
It's not too late to sign up for our Eco-Schools community litter pick tomorrow. Just come along to school at 10:00 am to meet the group, led by Miss Evans and our Eco Schools Committee - all are welcome!
The Eco Schools Committee will be giving us regular updates on their projects though this newsletter. This week, they have been working on writing letters to local businesses to ask for donations of bird feeders, bird food and bird houses. They are hoping to entice lots of birds into our playground!
Rayva’s eco tip of the week: Instead of buying PVA glue, make your own! All you need is cornstarch and water. Let us know if you give it a go!
NSPCC Number Day
Next Friday 2nd February, we will be showing our support for the NSPCC and celebrating Number Day with a fun day of maths activities. Children and staff are invited to Dress up for Digits on the day by wearing an item of clothing with a number on it - football shirts are welcome! We would love to raise funds to support the amazing work of the NSPCC and the vital services they provide, such as Childline. If you would like to donate, please do so directly to the charity here.
Chinese Dragon Dance Workshops
The children had a fabulous time at their Chinese Dragon Dance Workshops - log in to your child's Google Classroom to see all the photos and videos!
Volunteering in School
For those of you interested in offering your time on a regular basis to help in school, and who missed the introduction and training sessions in October, we will be holding another one in school on Tuesday 30th January at 9:00 am.
This is for parents and carers who would like to volunteer in school, to help in the classroom or read with the children. All parent volunteers must attend an in-person introduction and training session, complete safeguarding training online, and undertake an enhanced DBS check before starting.
Please refer to this letter from Mrs Davies, which was sent out in September, for more information. If you would like to attend the training session, please complete this registration form.
