FermSpeak Heats
Next Wednesday some of the children from years 4-6 will take part in the FernSpeak heats. FearnSpeak is our own in house performing arts festival, where children are taught 'speaking in front of an audience; expressing yourself and developing self-confidence'. Good luck to everyone participating!
Parents & Carers with children aged 4-7 years
Children are using technology and exploring the online world from a younger age. Thinkuknow are developing a new resource to help build young children's resilience online and give them the skills to explore all the digital world has to offer safely.
They would like you to complete this survey about online safety and what works for your family.
Bikeability
Some of our year 6 children completed Bikeability training this week, learning about road safety and how to be road safe when out and about.
ASD & Asperger Syndrome Parent Support Group

How to keep control of your child’s technology
AfC have produced an information sheet for distribution to parents. Correctly setting the parental safeguards on children’s internet-connected devices is one of the most useful steps to take in keeping children safer online. Please find the information sheet attached below.
Please note: you use it on screen, not on paper, because it works by tapping or clicking on the appropriate icon(s).

Sports Report
It's been a busy couple of weeks for sports competitions in Fern Hill.
30 children from years 5 and 6 participated in a 2km Cross-Country event, competing against over 650 other children. Of the 4 categories, we had the race winner in Year 5 girls, and were placed 3rd in the overall for Year 6 girls. The boys were also strong finishers, resulting in Fern Hill being placed top 12 in all four categories out of the 33 schools competing. Congratulations to Skye H for winning the Year 5 girls race, and well done to everyone for the amazing effort they all put in to the morning.
The Year 5 and 6 boys footballers were also in action, competing for a place at the London Youth Games. Sadly, it was not to be this year, but a huge well done to the team: Rafael, Masa, Finn, Anish, Nehemiah, Kai, Josh T and Zeke.
Last Friday afternoon saw the younger children having a go. Year 2 were invited to Chessington Community College to help their GCSE Young Sports Leaders develop practical skills in coaching activities. On a chilly day, there were football games, basketball events and netball skills being taught, and they were all amazing in both attitude and effort. I am looking forward to watching these skills develop as they move through the school. Well done to: Kabisha, Kayley, Karlsen, Thomas K, Helios, Lola, Max, Maisy, Paige, Matthew, Thomas C and Rosie.
Lots more competitions coming up, so watch out for more details as and when they happen.

PSA Christmas Fundraising
The Fair is on Friday 8th December from 3.00-5.00 pm; it’s a lovely start to the festivities at school in the run up to the end of term and a great fundraiser too!
There’ll be another mufti (non-uniform day) on Friday 1st December when we’ll ask for donations for the Fair tombola and raffle hampers. The raffle will be drawn at the Fair but you don’t need to be there to enter, just make sure your contact details are clearly written on the ticket counterfoils. Ticket counterfoils and payment should be returned to the PSA post box in school reception by 9.00 am on Friday 8th December. Please also return any unused ticket books by then so that they can be sold at the Fair.
