Introducing new Premises Manager Mr Morrow
I’ve worked in several schools since I was 16, I have 3 grown up children and two young grandchildren.
I’m looking forward to the new challenge of working with the great team here at Fern Hill Primary School.
Attention all Year 5 Parents!
Can we remind you to please pay the £40 deposit for the school journey which is now overdue.
Thank you to all those who have already paid.
Don't Forget!
We are a nut free school as we have pupils with severe allergies to nuts. Please ensure you don't' give you child any form of nut in their lunch boxes or snacks for after school and holiday clubs held in our school. This includes cereal bars containing nuts and Nutella spread in sandwiches. Thank you.
Jeans for Genes
Earlier this year Mrs Scott received a very thoughtful letter from Sophia (then in Sycamore class) requesting that Fern Hill support Jeans for Genes Day on 22nd September. It was agreed that Fern Hill will support this worthy charity which supports children with genetic disorders across the UK. All children and staff are invited to wear jeans on Friday 22nd September in exchange for a £1 donation to the Jeans for Genes charity.
Thank you to Sophia (now in Oak class) for thinking of others and encouraging Fern Hill to support Jeans for Genes. You can read her lovely letter to Mr Scott attached below.
Tissues please!
If you are able to purchase an extra box of tissues for your child's classroom when you're next shopping we would be very grateful. They can be left with our office team at any time. Thank you.
Wedding News
Year 5 Teaching Assistant Miss Mendoca got married during the summer holidays and is now using her married name Mrs Mehra. Many congratulations from everyone at Fern Hill!
A Message from Mr Scott
Welcome back everyone, and a very warm welcome to our new families who are starting their exciting journey at Fern Hill School. We have already had a great start to the Autumn term, we hope your children have settled back into school life and feel enthused and inspired about their learning.
I hope you will find the parent meetings next week informative, they will give you an insight in to the teaching and learning the children will experience this term, and give you an understanding of the policies, practices and processes that take place across our school.
If you are unable to attend the meetings, you will be able to view each year group presentation on our website following the meetings.
We all hope that you and your children enjoy a wonderful Autumn term.

School Attendance & Absence Reminder
It is vitally important that your child/ren attend school every day. Holidays during term time will not be authorised as stated by the Local Education Authority.
If you child is absent from school due to illness or any other valid reason, you must inform the school office before 8.45am on the first day of absence and every day thereafter. Failure to do so will result in an unauthorised absence. If you child has suffered from sickness or diarrhoea they must not return to school for 24hrs after the last bout of illness.
Late Book - you must sign your child/ren in our late book situated in the school office if they arrive late for school.
Medicines Held in School
If we hold medicines in school for your child (ie eipi pens and inhalers) can you please come to the school office to check the validity of these medicines as a matter of urgency. It is the responsibility of parents & carers to ensure that these kinds of medication are kept up to date.
Clubs News
All clubs start next week
(Except Healthy Cooking which begins 20th/21st Sept)
If your child is not sure whether they would like to join a club or not, they can try it out for the first week – please let us know after this if they want to join or not.
Year 1 children will be taken from their classrooms to their clubs by a member of staff. Instructors will help them to get changed where necessary.
Your child may bring a snack to eat before the club starts – please remember it must NOT contain nuts.
Collection points for after the clubs are shown on the school reception door.
Payment must be made before your child starts their club. This can be done online via ParentMail which lists all the clubs available or by cheque or cash which must be given to the office and a receipt will be issued.
Shopping at Waitrose this month?
We are delighted that Waitrose in Kingston is featuring our very own PSA as one of their community charities for the month of September!
If you are in Waitrose this month we would be very grateful if you could support us by asking a member of staff for green tokens to drop into our charity box. There are two sets of boxes, one located by the fruit and veg department near the exit to the car park and one by the escalator near the main entrance. The more tokens in our box the more money we will receive and you don't even need to spend in store.
Please pass on the word to your friends and family - the three charities will share £1,000 at the end of the month depending on how many tokens they get so every one counts!
Preloved Uniform Sale
