folar - design a nature zone competition
Calling all budding forest school creators!
Friends of Latchmere Recreation Ground (FoLaR) are inviting all North Kingston children aged 5 - 11 years to enter their 'Design a Nature Zone' competition. They are looking for ideas on how to create a natural play and learning area within the wooded area on the north edge of the recreation ground.
The winning designers will be invited to help FoLaR design a children's nature zone and will receive a special mention on a commemorative plaque!
Entries must be no larger than A4 size and can be submitted in any form - drawings, collages, 3D models, even a story or a poem.
The deadline for entries is 10.00 am on Tuesday 30th April 2019. Please see the information poster attached below for further information on the competition and where to drop your entries off.
FoLaR was formed in the autumn of 2017 by a group of local residents who got together with the aim of working with the community to improve Latchmere Recreation Ground. They wanted to make this green space a potential resource for everyone; a place to walk, spend time in, exercise and enjoy the nature it provides.
FoLaR's vision is "for Latchmere Recreation Ground to embody the community cohesion and spirit of North Kingston. It will be known as an attractive, well-managed and valued neighbourhood green space that has something for everyone, from open fields for general recreation to areas for quiet reflection. The pavilion will offer a sense of community, providing a focal point for a range of activities”.
Community Inclusion, Well-Being and Biodiversity are at the heart of what FoLaR is seeking to achieve for Latchmere Rec and the North Kingston families that it serves.
You can find out more about FoLaR and the work they are doing for the local community on their website here.
