Dear Parents and Carers,
I am delighted and honoured to be appointed the new Inclusion Leader and SENCO for Fern Hill Primary School. This year, my priority as Special Educational Needs Coordinator is to ensure our department continues to aim to offer outstanding support to children, staff and parents. Not only do I want to get to know the pupils, staff and school community this term but also begin to build an excellent team to work alongside me. This is to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all our pupils to achieve their full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development. To this aim, we have already introduced the following changes this year:
- An updated SEND information report (please see the website) to ensure a clear and transparent process from early identification to SEN Support.
- Weekly support from the Local Authority Educational Psychologist. An EP will be working with us for 3 hours every week, this year.
- Establish a “Well-Being Team” of Emotional Literacy Support assistants to work through the school supporting children with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Our school has developed a set of core values which will continue to underpin all the work we do. These values will have a significant impact as your child moves through the school. As the parent of two young children at Fern Hill, I know how vital working in partnership with parents is, in order for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. I strongly believe achievement and enjoyment go hand in hand to ensure each child makes excellent progress.
I would like to thank you personally for your continued commitment and support and I look forward to working with you during this academic year.
