PE kit reminder
Children should be wearing a plain white Fern Hill t-shirt and dark coloured shorts for their PE lessons. Dark leggins or tracksuit trousers are acceptable for cold weather.
Thank you to all of the volunteers that came to spring clean our garden last weekend. We are really grateful for your efforts.
Our writer in residence Cath Howe has launched a new book this week. She will be signing copies in school on June 14th. There will be the opportunity to purchase a copy of her book the week before via Parent Pay. Look out for details nearer the time.
The Royal Wedding
We will be celebrating the royal wedding in school by inviting ALL children to enter an art competition. We would love to see lots of creative images of Harry and Meghan. Children can produce their pictures as a collage, pencil drawing, paint, textiles or anything else they wish to use. Pictures must display a name and class on the back. All entries to class teachers by Monday 14th May please.
On Friday 18th May we will also be inviting the children to dress up for the day, the theme is Princes & Princesses or an outfit of red, white & blue. We will be having a picnic outside so all children will need to bring in a packed lunch, and a picnic blanket if you have one. There will be no hot lunches served on the day. Any children who are eligible for free school meals will receive a packed lunch from the school kitchen. This does not include the KS1 children who automatically receive government funded meals, they will need to bring their own packed lunches.
Fern Hill Music Evening
A letter about the Fern Hill KS2 Music Evening has been sent home with your child this week. If your child would like to take part, please can you return the form as soon as possible. The deadline is Wednesday 16th May. We hope that many children will take part in this wonderful evening of celebrating music at Fern Hill School.

Summer second half term
The new menu for the second half of the Summer term will be published on ParentPay by Tuesday 8th May. The detailed menu and information sheet are available on the website and attached to this newsletter.
Deadlines for ordering are as follows:
Order for w/c 21st May by Sunday 13th May
Order for w/c 4th June by Sunday 20th May
Order for w/c 11th June by Sunday 3rd June
As there are lots of trips out of school planned for the remainder of the term, don’t forget that you should order school packed lunches online via ParentPay by the normal deadlines. Any hot lunches ordered on a school trip day will automatically be cancelled and your ParentPay lunch balance credited if applicable.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any lunch ordering or balance queries.
Please can we remind you that at break times snacks should consist of fruit only. We have noticed a trend in unhealthy pre-packaged snacks which is also causing additional litter in the playgrounds. Please can you talk to your children about making a healthy choice for their snack and remind them that all rubbish should be taken home in their packed lunch boxes so that you may monitor what your child has eaten. Thank you.
The team point winner this week is Richmond
Parent Governor Voting
Voting slips with parent governor candidates’ statements on will be coming come home with children on Wednesday 9th May with an accompanying letter explaining how to vote.
The PSA are delighted to announce that we have a new sponsor for our Summer Fair, Curchods Estate Agents. As part of Curchods’ sponsorship package, they will promote our Fair to the local community via branded estate agent sized boards and donate £10 for every board which goes up outside our properties, for a three-week period leading up to the Fair. A Board Sponsorship Consent Form was sent home with the children this week. If you would like to support our fund raising by having a board, please fill out this form and return it either as a hard copy to the school office (not your class teacher please!) or by email to email@example.com. The deadline to return your Consent Form is Thursday 17th May. A copy of the letter which was sent out via ParentPay on Monday is attached below, together with the Consent Form. Thank you.
