Arts Week Exhibition
Thank you to everyone that attended our Arts Exhibition. We hope you enjoyed the wonderful displays of art work around the school.
I feel a great sense of pride for our wonderfully talented children and staff as I walk around the school. The work displayed is truly inspiring. I have really enjoyed listening to the children talk about their work so enthusiastically, and explaining the different techniques they have used during Arts Week.
The Voluntary Fund
I would like to thank all parents for their generous donations towards the schools voluntary fund.
To date the contributions amount to approximately £12,000. Some of the funding has been earmarked for a programme of replacement interactive whiteboards for the classrooms. Purchasing new equipment such as these isn't possible with government funding alone. We really are grateful for your continued support of Fern Hill School.
We would love to hear from parents that would be willing and able to apply for school related grants on our behalf.
We need individuals that can lend their skills for us to apply for school related grants, so we can look to improve school equipment, including new sports equipment, IT systems and funding for activities that would benefit the children and overall well being of pupils.
Please contact the office if you feel you could help.

We are excited to announce the upcoming Aladdin Production! We would like to invite you to see the show on Tuesday 28th March. The show will run in the Large Hall at 9.15am and also at 1.55pm. We look forward to welcoming you.
Year 6 Parents
Please note that due to the dates of the Y6 transition visits to their secondary schools, we have had to change the date of the Y6 production performance. The performance to parents will be on Tuesday 4th July at 6pm. Any other provisional dates have been cancelled.
We are happy to announce that Mrs Seal (Larch Class) is expecting her first child in August. She is really hoping to continue working up to the end of the summer term. We hope that you will all join us in sending on our congratulations!
Mrs Rudd (Teaching Assistant) is expecting her new arrival very soon, she begins her maternity leave at the end of the Spring Term. Good Luck Mrs Rudd.
The team with the most points awarded this week is Richmond
Reception had a great opportunity to see and hold some exotic animals this week. We were visited by Emily from Zoolab who taught us all about 'minibeasts' and even showed us some other animals like Wriggly the snake and Dodger the bunny rabbit. This will lead into our new topic after Easter of 'Down in the Garden'! Miss Wheatley
Year 5 Visit to Bedelsford School
Lime Class were the last year 5 group to visit Bedelsford School this week. It was a great opportunity to be able to see how children with different levels of difficulty can learn. We found it very interesting helping other children communicate and see their reactions to us playing games with them. We learnt different games, some sign language and how their teachers have to look after them in lots of special ways. Mrs Naik
All school clubs are running next week except for Spanish and Sewing clubs.
Clubs will start at 2.30pm on the last day of term Friday 31st March due to the early close of school.
There are still spaces in all clubs for the summer term, except the following which are full:
Hockey, beginner's chess, gardening, choir an orchestra.
Application forms for clubs are available on the website and outside the school office.
Payment for all summer term clubs may now be made by ParentMail. Cash or cheque payments must be made to the school office where a receipt will be issued.
This week some of our year 3 girls represented Fern Hill at Kew Association Sports ground to take part in a football tournament with 8 other schools. Both of our teams lost 1 game, drew 1, and won 2 games. They all played magnificently and their attitude was exemplary. Alissa & Zara managed to take home the schools player of the tournament. Well done to all who took part.
From Plot to Plate
A school garden can serve many purposes that actively engage children in nutrition education and also horticulture. At Fern Hill we are aiming to incorporate our home grown vegetables, fruit and salad into our healthy school lunches.
Our Gardening Club are doing such a wonderful job of nurturing the gardens and vegetable plots that we hope our kitchen staff will be able to offer what we grow to the children who have school lunches. We hope for a positive impact on the children who experience 'From Plot to Plate' by encouraging them to try new foods and develop healthy eating habits.
