Communication

We encourage an open door policy. Teachers are available to speak to parents after school each day on any issue, no matter how small. Appointments can be made if you would like a longer meeting. Please don’t hesitate to talk to us if you are worried about any aspect of your child’s development or well being.

Individual Parent Consultation Meetings:

These are held in the autumn and spring terms.

Written reports:

In July all parents will receive a written report on their child’s achievements over the past year and parents will have an opportunity to discuss any points with the class teacher.

Letters:

The school aims to keep parents informed about school events, activities and dates. Letters are sent home with your eldest sibling and they are numbered to help you keep track. Weekly school newsletters are sent home on a Friday. We use Parent Mail to send letters electronically too. Copies of Newsletters and other Home/School communication will also be available on this website.

Curriculum information meetings for parents:

Periodically we hold meetings for parents to help you understand what and how the children are learning. These may relate to curriculum subject areas. Suggestions as to how you can help or support your child at home will also be given.

Parent Forums:

We invite parents to year group meetings where the headteacher, other members of the leadership team, year group teachers and a representative from the governing body are available to talk informally about whole school or year group issues. We welcome your feedback at these meetings.

Helping out in School

Parents are always welcome. If you would like to help in school your time would be greatly appreciated. Our policy is to ask parents volunteering to make a regular commitment and to support in classes other than their own child’s.

Please consider helping in any way you can. The class teacher will give you some ideas of what would be most helpful. Some parents may prefer to help at home with cutting and sticking jobs etc. A form is sent out at the start of each year asking for volunteers and some idea of any skills or talents you may be willing to share with us.
