Primary Engineer Programme 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to announce that we will be taking part in the Leaders Award 2017 Competition during this academic year.

The Leaders Award will be challenging Primary and Secondary pupils to research engineering, interview inspiring engineers and interpret the question “if you were am engineer – what would you do?”

The award is a fantastic opportunity to engage our pupils with real engineers who will convey the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in their daily working lives.  Pupils will be able to let their creativity run free and draw and write about how they interpret the question and come up with inventions and ideas.

Last year over 10,000 pupils, from across the country, took part in the award and hundreds of shortlisted entries were displayed at public exhibitions in multiple venues, which were visited by hundreds of people.

Calling all engineers!

Are you a professional engineer or do you have links to the engineering industry?  If the answer is YES, then we would be delighted to have your help and support as we embark on the Leaders Award 2017.

Could you:

  • Prepare a child friendly CV for students, so they can carry out some research and follow this by delivery a talk/presentation to a class about your job as an engineer?
  • Allow pupils at the school to interview you about your career as an engineer?
  • Put us in touch with local engineering companies?

If you are interested in helping, please email us for registration details at office@fernhill.rbksch.org.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Lauren Taylor &  Mrs. Samantha Stephenson
